About Us

Anwarr Thompson ( Founder) has studied and trained in the Martial Arts for 41 years. He has taught Self Defense for 28 years. He is a Seventh Dan Master Instructor. He is well known for his work with children over the last 29 years; as site coordinator, and Youth Care Advocate for the Old Colony Y.M.C.A, camp counselor, and has worked with children and adults with special needs, and at risk youth.  ​ 

At our school, we take a unique analytical approach to learning and applying self-defense and kickboxing. While we train with the intensity and discipline of a professional MMA gym, our focus is not on prize fighting & Combat Sport—but on real-world self-protection.

Our system combines the best of multiple martial arts styles, empowering students with practical skills, strategic thinking, and functional fitness. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced martial artist, you'll gain the tools to defend yourself effectively and confidently in any situation.

We aim to build “Shujaa”, meaning brave, hero or warrior, through cultivating an indomitable spirit, while teaching confidence, respect, discipline, compassion, kindness, and leadership.  Our Academy is a Hybrid School with an eclectic blend of Kokuren Kenpo Karate, Sanshou Kickboxing, Silat/ Esgrima, & Ju Jitsu. Fencing is offered as a sport, thus our Academy is a multicultural school integrating the Martial Arts from the Southeast Asia, the Americas,  Indonesian and Caribbean Islands.

We aim to preserve and promote Esgrima as both a martial art and a sport, and to strengthen our community by instilling values of discipline, courage, and character in every student we teach.
